On June 18 at 11:00 Patrick Haylock from the University of Melbourne will give a public lecture titled “Autobiographical memory flexibility and mechanisms of wellbeing”. Listeners are welcome to Näituse 2 room 121 or Zoom.
This talk will present a selection of studies on autobiographical memory flexibility, that is, the ability to deliberately retrieve different personal memory types. This includes the development of a large language model for automated scoring of the Autobiographical Memory Task; the results of a prospective longitudinal study exploring whether autobiographical memory flexibility predicts depression and the potential mechanisms that may underlie any effects; and an experimental study exploring whether manipulation of memory flexibility impacts problem solving effectiveness. The talk will present implications for the role of autobiographical memory in mental health, and possible future directions for clinical practice and research.
